Like all boas, Amazon tree boas have no venom and instead constrict their prey before swallowing it whole. These snakes grow to around two metres in length and display a beautiful array of colours from reds to yellows, especially when young. They spend their whole lives in the trees where they hunt, sleep and even give birth. Their bodies are very strong, and the snake is able to reach out over half of its own body length in order to cross between trees.
