Lanner falcon

INTRODUCTION

There is some variation in the plumage of European & African Lanners, however there is a basic theme. This species has been noted in many habitats and they have a diet that adapts well to local availability. They have been recorded catching large numbers of fruit bats in some areas, rats in others and have a spectacular style of catching birds in a head on attack.

Turbulence was born in 2015 at the International Centre for Birds of Prey. When carrying Turbulence or whilst he waits to fly you may spot him wearing a hood. The hood is a light leather blindfold, tailored to fit Turbulence in order to prevent him becoming upset during transportation.

Birds are schooled to accept the hood and only asked to wear it for the minimum length of time.
