Micro pigs

INTRODUCTION

Defra’s interpretation of a Micro Pig is a pig that has been bred over generations to be smaller in adulthood than most other species of pig. These pigs have been bred from rare breeds that include Tamworth, Gloucester Old Spot, Middle White and Oxford Sandy. The micro side comes from the Vietnamese breed with the micro strain in the pure black individuals. Rob Rose who is the founder of Valley of the Pigs loaned these pigs to us to provide a window into the world of Micro Pigs. He is now 18 generations in and is the founder breeder of Micro Pigs in the UK.
