Tamworth pig

INTRODUCTION

The Tamworth Pig is one of the oldest breeds of domestic pig in the UK. It is the only breed of red pig in the UK, and has thick bristly hair that protects its skin from the sun. As pigs cannot sweat they cool down by wallowing in the mud. The only way to ensure the survival of many of our rare breed farm animals is to farm them for meat production with a high commercial value. We would urge you to support local producers of rare breed meat and products.
